What We Believe about...
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inerrant, infallible, Holy Spirit inspired Word of God; “the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation.” (2 Timothy 3:16; Matthew 4:4 & 5:18; Titus 1:2; John 10:35) God We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (The Trinity). We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the Virgin Mary and became man without ceasing to be God, and that the Holy Spirit indwells and empowers all who put their trust in Christ as Savior. (Deuteronomy 6:4; James 2:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Psalm 139:1-6; 1 John 4:8-10; Dan 4:35) Man We believe that mankind was created by God (not evolved – Genesis 2:7) in His image (Genesis 1:27), to be free moral agents. He has given us both the gift and responsibility of choice. Because man sinned (Romans 5:12), all men are sinners (Psalm 51:5; Ephesians 2:3) and are unable to earn salvation. (Romans 3:23; Luke 15:17–24; 2 Peter 3:9) |
Salvation
We believe that only by trusting in Jesus Christ and God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ as Lord of his life. This is evidence by repentance, confession, baptism by immersion, and a life committed to His service. (John 1:12, 14:6; Romans 5:1, 6:23; Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5) The Church We believe that Christians should assemble together on the Lord’s Day for worship, (Hebrews 10:25): to pray, to study God’s Word, to fellowship together, and to observe the Lord’s Supper (Communion); the weekly time that we remember the awesome sacrifice that Jesus made for our sins (Acts 2:42; 20:7). |
